Project Overview

Thirty Percy, a forward-thinking social purpose organisation, was already familiar with using their Notion system, but they felt there was more they could do with it. They were using Notion as a basic project management tool, but they knew it had untapped potential that could help them operate more effectively and align better with their mission. And so having heard about my love for Notion they brought me in for an in-person training session.

The purpose? To progress their use of Notion, so all team members actively use the system. To help with this we made sure the session was hands-on and interactive, designed to resonate with everyone from the Notion novices to the more seasoned users within the Thirty Percy team.

During our time together, we covered the essentials—like organising their workspace and using databases—before diving into the more advanced i.e. advanced project management workflows.

Project Outcome

The training session had an immediate and positive impact on Thirty Percy’s operations. Here’s what we achieved:

  1. Optimised Project Management:
    • After the session, Thirty Percy restructured their Notion workspace to better reflect their project needs. This made it easier to manage tasks, track progress, and ensure that everyone was aligned on project priorities.
  2. Customised PM workflows:
    • We developed and set up custom workflows that mirrored Thirty Percy’s processes. These workflows helped streamline their standard project management processes, reducing time spent on inputting project tasks, allowing them to focus more on their social impact goals.
  3. Improved Team Communication:
    • With the new Notion setup, team communication became more efficient. Whether it was sharing project updates, collaborating on documents, or simply keeping track of important information, everything became more accessible and centralised.
  4. Empowered Team Members:
    • The in-person nature of the training allowed for real-time interaction and feedback. Team members could ask questions, try out features on the spot, and get immediate answers. This hands-on approach boosted their confidence in using Notion, helping the entire team feel more empowered and capable.
  5. Long-Term Impact:
    • The training didn’t just stop at using Notion internally. It sparked broader conversations within Thirty Percy about how they could use Notion as an external knowledge management tool/ wiki of sorts where they could share knowledge with external stakeholders.

The collaboration with Thirty Percy was all about unlocking potential—both in the Notion platform and within the team itself. By the end of our session, they weren’t just better at using Notion; they were better equipped to push forward with their mission, with a more streamlined and efficient approach.

"Janinah ran a brilliant introduction to no-code tool Notion training for the Thirty Percy team. She was so enthusiastic, open and creative and a dream to work with. I'd highly recommend working with her for all things Notion and beyond. She has a really unique take on all things system design and designing appropriate knowledge systems."

— Louise Armstrong (Transitionary Executive Director, Thirty Percy)
